The Red Lion

Not far from Tan Hill, Britain's highest pub is the Red Lion, Britain's most filmed pub. One of 630 or so pubs bearing that name, the Red Lion, Langthwaite has featured in many television programmes including All Creatures Great and Small. Full length films such as Walt Disney's Escape From The Dark also feature the pub.
Little or no changes are made to the pub for filming and today the Red Lion remains unspoilt. The bar offers a good range of souveniers as well as beers and hot drinks. The ancient out-door pub game of knurr and spell is played here, having been revived by two of it's older regulars.
