THE TAN HILL SWALEDALE
SHEEP SHOW

One of the
highlights in the Yorkshire Dales calender, the Tan Hill Sheep
Show is held at Britain's highest pub on the last Thursday of
every May.
Since 1951 Swaledale sheep have been exhibited by local farmers.

From late morning until late in the
evening the pub is crammed with farmers, exhibiting their
sheep and sightseers who come to see the show. A regular feature
of the show is the Lofthouse
and Middlesmoor Silver band. The show was cancelled in 2001 and
2002 due to a major out-
break of Foot and Mouth Disease and the government restrictions
which accompanied it.
The next shows are on Thursday, 27th May 2010 and 26th May, 2011.
See the 1/3 Mile High Club for more pictures, stories and videos.
