The northermost of the Yorkshire Dales, Arkengarthdale is also one of the most remote. Running northweat from the village of Reeth in Swaledale, the Arkengarthdale road passes through Langthwaite, the only settlement in the dale before ascending towards Tan Hill with it's solitary inn, the highest in the country.
