After Cray, Upper Wharfedale, the B6160 passes over it's summit before descending into Bishopdale. A broad, gentle valley with numerous farms, Bishopdale is one of the lesser known Dales of Yorkshire, but one of the most relaxing. Looking up Bishopdale from Wensleydale |
| Descending into Bishopdale, one sees a broad
valley with it's patchwork of fields and farms. There are
few settlements here, the main ones being Thoralby and
West Burton at the foot of Bishopdale, both about a mile
and a half (2.5km) from the main Wensleydale road. A road leads off from the Street Head Inn to Newbiggin and a few yards further on, another road heads towards Thoralby. The moor between Wharfedale and Bishopdale |
