KIRKBY MALHAM

![]() |
A mile and a quarter (2km) south of Malham
village is Kirkby Malham. Until recently isolated with
it's distinctive dialect, this village takes it's name
Malham from the Anglo-Saxons with the Danes adding the
Kirkby prefix. The 8th Century church, St. Michael the
Archangel is dubbed 'Cathedral of the Dale'. This roomy
church has old box pews bearing their owners names or
initials, some inticately carved. The Victoria Inn
is well worth a visit and good quality meals can be
enjoyed there. Above and left: Kirkby Malham |
