BISHOPDALE, LANGSTROTHDALE, LITTONDALE, COVERDALE, MALHAM

The most impressive of the Yorkshire Dales, Wharfedale cuts through the eastern side of the national park like a giant scar. Nearby are Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, with their interesting limestone features. The flanks of Wharfedale are home to some of the most notorious caves in Britain. The prominent Kilnsey Crag (right) offers the best rock climbing in the Dales.
For the less adventurous, there are numerous delightful villages to visit, centred on the small town of Grassington.

Back
South of Grassington, Wharfedale ambles it's way down to Bolton Abbey while to the north, Upper Wharfedale winds it's way past Kilnsey, Kettlewell and Buckden, before reaching it's head above Cray where it plunges down into Bishopdale and Wensleydale.
